THIS FALL'S TOP 5

I don't know about you, but I'm starting to feel the 'work burn' as we leap into FALL and soon-if-not-already all that Holiday action. Every year we brace ourselves for a rapid fire of events and mandatory parties. Be here, be there, and two advil later, you're semi-jiving with your boss to Brenda Lee.

Before it all flies by, I wanted to share my FALL TOP 5 you shouldn't live without. From what I'm wearing to products and experiences, I am highlighting some of my favorites so you can cut to the chase. A few things not on the list: cozying up to a good movie with some mulled cider, a fleece robe, and possibly one more slice of pie (because who's looking right?) Also, for anyone who actually reads these, yes, I am aware of my frequent pie references.

1. This year I am totally into COLOR BLOCK LEATHER. It's easy, elevated, and can be styled from work to play. Let's be real: I've got two kids, a hubby, (does that count for 3?), work etc, and am seeking chic pieces that can take me from Designer in the Showroom to cool mom without much fuss. A few of my favorites can be found below.

What I love is the texture and subtlety, and the million and one ways in which you can pair these looks. Not to mention, it's actually trend-less and the luxe Italian leather is strong enough to last for many seasons to come (re: you can probably pass these pieces down to your children, not that you'll want to)

2. MAISON BOINET HAIRCALF LEOPARD MINI BUCKET BAG

Pair your leather with a touch of trend - as in a leopard mini bag, like the one I love and have been wearing by Maison Boinet. The hardware is stunning. It's a neutral pop of print and adds interest to almost any look. So happy to see the 90's back btw.

3. TRAPP FRAGRANCES CANDLES

Here's something to brighten your home. I have been a devoted TRAPP lover ever since discovering this Kansas City based company a decade ago. Over the years these luscious scents have made their way into my home and showroom. No candle compares to TRAPP. First of all, I am highly allergic to the chemicals found in big brand's lines yet most of the high end candles' scents just don't smell enough. TRAPP candles have a bottle of perfume in them and smell for hours, if not days. Bottom line, the scents smell real and are real.

My go-to's: Bob's Flower Shoppe (the signature CK showroom scent), White Fir, Hearth, & Orange Clove.

4. SOMERSET ALL AMERICAN CLUB - CHICAGO

Because you need to take your FALL LOOK out for a spin, and this is just the spot. One of the best parts is the reclaimed "Cedar Hotel" sign that the owners mounted to the second floor wall. Also, they're open for lunch - get the ahi tuna salad, it's memorable.

5. LYRIC OPERA OF CHICAGO'S 'RIGOLETTO'

Nerd Alert. Is it bad that I almost fell off my chair when I saw Rigoletto was playing for a brief stint in Chicago this weekend until Nov 3rd? I felt like one of the fans at a ONE DIRECTION concert (that's that boy band right?) The team in my office looked perplexed. Wait is this a DJ? Nope it's an OPERA with amazing music told to a story. Anyway, insert some culture into your life and go see this. Try something new, live outside the normal realm of options, and you never know what glorious eye-opening experience you might find.

What do you think of my Top 5? I'd love to know. And, what do you think I should share next? Email me.
